August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

It's been an exciting month around here...the Close To My Heart convention in Dallas, release of a new Idea Book, lots of new stamps, papers and toys to play with!!

Check back here on August 6 (my birthday!) to check out the NEW PRODUCT BLOG HOP.
AND Check back AGAIN on August 15 for the NATIONAL STAMPING MONTH BLOG HOP.

If you're here for the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop, you're in the right place!  I hope you have a chance to go around the whole circle of 58 Close To My Heart consultants who all worked with the same stamp set to create beautiful and different items!  I hope you are inspired by their creativity.  I always am.

If you've arrived here from Dawn Ross' Blog, welcome!

This month's stamp set is called Baroque Borders:

I like the style of the corner stamp sets, so I stamped two.  I wanted to use a sentiment that was "on the serious side" - so I used a sympathy set, from the new Words of Comfort stamp set (below, C1524).  It's a really nice one.  Any sentiment would work well, really.

I thought it needed something interesting besides the words, so I added some NEW Colonial White Rosette Ribbon (Z1800, $7.95 for 5 yards).  The flowers are only 3/4" across, so I like that much better than the big pink ribbon flowers we had before.

I cut a few apart and colored them with a Sponge Dauber and Twilight Ink.  I think it adds something.  Very subtle, though.

I thought the card looked much better, but still, it needs something.  A little glitter... (who doesn't need a little glitter??)  I tried different color and Glitz Gel options.  Did you know we now have a GREEN Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1771, $2.75)?  I think it will be great for Christmas cards.  I tried it on these flowers, but I liked the Stardust Glitter Gel better (Z1313, $2.75); the Stardust color has a blue-ish tint to it.  Either with or without the Twilight Ink would look nice.  I opted for it WITH the Twilight Inked flowers, and Stardust Glitz on the top flower (bub not all three). I put a few dabs on the flower and smeared it around with my finger.

You should be able to click on the picture to make it larger.

Did I mention that Close To My Heart now has a new Cricut Cartridge?  It's called Artiste! And  the center shape is cut with the new Artiste cartridge ($99).  (I LOVE this shape!  It's so elegant.)  I also cut a leaf set with Artiste, which I barely sponged a little with the Twilight ink.  I didn't bother to cut the leaves apart, since I was planning on covering them up with ribbon flowers.

All done!  And the best part is, because the flowers are made of ribbon, they will smash down.  So if you want to mail it, the card will still be beautiful upon arrival.  And with any luck, the mail man won't charge you extra postage.  I love simple, beautiful cards.

If you want to start shopping, the new Idea Book starts August 1 - ready, set, go!!  And don't forget that you can also sign up to be a new consultant starting on August 1 and get the Fabulous Bonus Bag!  (Hey look, it kind of coordinates with my card!...I think that's what inspired me...)
